Martin Hrdlicka is a graduate of the Czech Technical University in Prague and the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava. Since 1996, he has been working as a development manager in various areas at ŠKODA AUTO a.s. He worked in the development of Mercedes Benz AG and VW AG in Germany. He is, among other things, a member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Czech Automobile Society, or the board of directors of the ŠKODA AUTO Foundation a.s. He is also a member of the Commission for Climate Issues, an advisory body of the Council for Research, Development and Innovation.
 
Martin Hrdlicka has five patents and a utility model in the field of automotive technology. He developed the first serial ABS system in Czechoslovakia, acquired and built the worldwide competence of ŠKODA AUTO for the development of drive units within the Volkswagen concern. For this purpose, he founded the most modern Engine and Emission Center in Europe with a top development team in Mladá Boleslav.
